A production company is the producers of the film and who contributes
to the film scenes which are put together in a way that matches the genre. The
production company during a film is mentioned during the title sequence or
before the movie starts. Each has a different image, typography and name. The production
company are involved in finance by providing the money to start the film which
is paid off by the profit the film makes.
To make a recognisable company ident, it should be short and
simple consisting of no more than 2-3 words or images. The ident must match the
genre of the film using simple effects such as the typography suiting the film
the company produced. The length of the ident clips must be short of maximum 10
seconds. One example of an ident is ‘Twisted Pictures.’
Just by looking at this image, I found that it is
immediately found as a thriller/horror genre due to the background being
completely black and that the words are wrapped around in barbed wire giving it
a danger effect and to show the wire as a weapon. The typography is silver/grey
which could link to thriller by prison bars as it matches the same colour.
Who are ‘Twisted Pictures?’
This company is founded in America (2004) and is an
independent production company which mainly produces horror/thriller films. The
company was founded by Evolution Entertainment's Mark Burg, Oren Koules and Gregg Hoffman.
Films by twisted
pictures:
1.
The
‘Saw’ franchise
2.
Mother’s
day
3.
Catacombs
4.
The
Tortured
5.
Dead
Silence
All
of these films are in the thriller/horror genre due to their plot, and scenes of
violence and mystery.
How does this
help with my thriller?
This ident will
be very helpful for the beginning of our thriller film because the ident will
be very much linked in with our thriller as it will consist of danger and shows
a lot of tension which we want to be the biggest part for the introduction. Twisted
pictures are very famous with thriller/horror films and are very easily
recognizable which we want our ident to be linked with also.
