The film that I analysed was Saw II
Location:
The film is set in America in an old abandoned house and warehouse.
This is because it adds to the horror factor of a stereotypical place to shoot
a horror movie as it is out of the way from the public.
Set:
The film is set at night due to the film being a horror
which gives the audience the most feared factor of a horror film and is very
stereotypical to do so. But throughout it is unknown if it is still set at
night or in the day but is believed to be at night as there is no public around
and is very quiet which makes the audience feel nervous towards the characters
and keep them at the edge of their seats.
Costumes used for the main characters:
The main characters consist of random members of the public
put into Jigsaw’s trap for an unknown reason. They are typically dressed in
everyday clothing such as short sleeved shirts and jeans which makes the
audience scared as they are dressed like them and the audience feel part of the
film since they can link to the victims.
Props:
There isn’t much use for props during the film but the main
ones include weapons such as guns or self-made weapons such as a club. These
are used as they are typically used for horror films and makes the audience
scared due to the weapons being lifelike.
