The type of people we decided to identify as our audience
were people aged roughly from 15 to 25 year olds and usually being the male
gender. This age group watch the film because it is the closest age that links
to our thriller as that age typically like films including gore and jump scares
during thriller films.

We researched our audience by
viewing different types of films such as action, adventure and mystery related
to our film and compared there age ratings of each. It turned out to be mostly
15 year restriction from the BBFC. The
sort of content allowed at 15 includes mild swearing and strong violence with
sexual scenes. This applies to our film due to the violence including the use
of a knife and the violence it creates towards the audience.
The findings of our audience’s expectations included containing action scenes and a few hints of gory scenes such as knife stabbing or gun shooting. Since these were the top reasons why people watch thrillers and ours was a psychological thriller, we tried to address as many expectations possible which fit the theme of a psychological thriller but also adding what the audience want and expect to see to fit their expectations.
The BBFC would rate our film a 15. This is because of the usage of violence portrayed in our film due to killing and the use of blood. This wouldn’t be suitable for younger ages and older people don’t watch these type of movies as they don’t find them interesting. This impacts our audience because it narrows down the amount of people who would watch the film as only people over the age of 15 can watch and there is a vast majority of younger teens who can only watch films age rating 12 or below and don’t fit the target audience.
